Spring Sunshine in Ibiza

Monday, March 9th, 2009
The Spring sunshine continues on the island with the locals barely getting a chance to recover from the Mardi Gras celebrations before new preparations for the next round of March activities.

Ibiza Gastronomy Week returns! Centred around a marquee in Vara De Rey where you can taste tapas from a collaboration of local restaurants, this festival brings together various experts in the field of gastronomy to discuss, sample and exhibit their wares. Starting on 2nd March, this is something not to be missed!

A busy month will continue…. San Jose Fiesta also kicks off, with the big Flower Power party happening on Saturday 14th. The whole village will be closed off as the villagers invite all the islands residents and guests to celebrate with them.  Could this be the first official warm up for the Summer?

Carnival time in Ibiza is approaching

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

The big news on the island this week is that Carnival time is approaching!
All the locals are getting ready for the big Mardi Gras celebrations known locally as ‘Carnaval’. This is beginning of lent and is marked by a large feast of fancy dress and processions through the town centres!

Meanwhile, the early Spring sunshine continues…. Many locals took part in a night time walk this week around the Northern village of Santa Agnes, guided by the light of the full moon, as a celebration of the arrival of the almond blossom.

The anticipation of Valentine’s Day also has had Ibiza’s residents feeling particularly happy this week….
